Model UN Students Take Home 6 Awards

Six Hicksville High School students won awards at a recent Model United Nations conference held at St. Francis Prep School in Queens. They represented specific countries, made speeches, prepared draft resolutions, negotiated with allies and adversaries, resolved conflicts and navigated the Model UN rules of procedure.

Congratulations to the following Hicksville HS students who won awards based on their respective assignments:

  • Rani Basnet (UNEP: Sweden, Award – Outstanding Delegate).
  • Roman Charan (Security Council: Croatia, Award – Outstanding Delegate).
  • Jack Immanuel (UNESCO: North Korea, Award – Best Delegate).
  • Pratiksha Malayil (General Assembly 1: Saudi Arabia, Award – Honorable Mention).
  • Hetvi Patel (NATO: France, Award – Outstanding Delegate).
  • Fawziyah Shamin (UNEP: Germany, Award – Best Delegate).

Participants obtained a practical understanding of advancing international cooperation and problem-solving. Overall, more than 20 students from Hicksville High School competed at the conference. Hicksville’s Model UN advisers are Meryl Landau and Dr. Andrea Maxeiner. Great job by all!
