Tax Exemptions for Senior Citizens

Hicksville Public Schools demonstrates its support of our senior community by adopting the Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption, which provides partial property tax relief on a sliding-scale basis to residents meeting the required criteria.

Under the current provisions of the law, the maximum income permitted, including Social Security, for a senior citizen’s real property exemption is $57,500. Exemptions ranging from 50 percent to 5 percent are based on a sliding scale. For further information, contact the Nassau County Department of Assessment at 516-571-1500.
