IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Dear Hicksville High School Community,
Prior to dismissal today, I was notified that one of our students displayed a plastic toy gun replica in class. We immediately contacted The Nassau County Police Department to collaborate with the district on an investigation.
Currently, no information has been disclosed to us or the police that would indicate a credible concern for student and staff safety. Be assured that any student involved will be subject to discipline according to our district’s Code of Conduct.
Please know that we take these matters very seriously. The Hicksville School District works to provide a safe, inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of all students and staff. Any reports of potential weapon possession, including student comments and social media posts, are taken seriously and subject to investigation. I also commend the upstanding students who brought this situation to the attention of school personnel.
Please take this opportunity to remind your children of the importance of responsible decision-making and of immediately reporting any concerning messages or behaviors to a trusted adult or staff member.
